Happiness Is
~
Tonight was a fun night. It marked the 4th Christmas party I celebrated in the company I work for. I won a game, had fun with our team’s presentation and watching the other departments’ performances as well. It was, indeed, a happy night.
That happiness however is short-lived knowing that my princess Leah won’t be at home when I come back. She went home to their province earlier today to spend Christmas with her family. You see, absences of people close to you tend to be more prominent when it's a special occasion. It's just not the same knowing I won’t be able to share a fun night with her – even though I know I don’t really talk about my days a lot. I do enjoy spending time with my friends – jamming, playing games and joking around. It’s fun. But it doesn’t always equate to happiness.
Happiness is the feeling of home. And I know it’s fairly easy to ignore its existence until it’s no longer there. It's the warm greeting of welcome after weary days. It's being tucked into bed safely at night just like when we were kids. And it's waking up in the morning knowing somebody loves you.
My princess Leah is my home. And given a pocketful of fairy dust so I could fly, she will be my happy thought.

awww. that is so sweet lei! =)
i know exactly what you are talking about. for me, happiness is very relative. i found home with je, but my family is also another home. when i told him a few hours ago that "i miss home", i realized I AM home, but not the home that i'm looking for. =(
a song once said, "don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got till it's gone?".
