Keeping the Faith

~

It’s Secret Bible Week this week on National Geographic where they feature controversial Christian documentaries every night. A lot of the topics covered were obviously (and quite timely) taken from Dan Brown’s hot-hot novel. The Da Vinci Code is showing in theaters next week or so. I’ll skip this topic for the meantime until Nat-Geo is done with all the documentaries for the week.

Anyway, someone I know is apparently thinking of switching her religion to being a Born Again Christian. (DISCLAIMER: I have nothing against non-Catholic Christians or whatever religions there exist. I am surely not a die-hard Catholicism fan either.) When asked about her decision she says “Kasi mukhang sila yung mase-save eh…” “It looks like they are the ones who will be saved…”

Quite an interesting claim they got there for a marketing tool, huh. Ok, so let’s put aside the fact that all religions are man-made. If there are 500 Roman Catholics in the world, there would be how many Born Again Christians? The answer is .1 – not even close to being half a solid 1. Put that hate thought against me aside for now and this time; let’s think about other INTERNATIONALLY-known religions and include the ancient ones still being practiced today. Are you really telling me that only the Born Again Christians who populate only a minority on the 3rd-world country known as the Philippines are the ones who will be saved? Can you hear that? I think I can hear Satan laughing at the thought.

What about the Jewish people – you know, they are named by God himself as the “chosen” people only countless times? Oh, and what about the Muslims, Buddhists, Lutherans, Hinduists, Shintoists, Adventists, Sharonians and the Vilmanians?? Are they all bound for eternal damnation?

Manny Pacquiao’s winning over the Mexicans doesn’t make the Philippines God’s chosen country - ya’know.

you got me with the Sharonians and the Vilmanians. it took me a couple of seconds to realize who they are. =P

this is an interesting topic. pero feeling ko i have so many questions myself to even comment on this. =)
